A traditional house associated with Walin Gumi, an important customary official within the Bayan customary community in Karang Bajo.

About this destination
Walin Gumi Traditional House is associated with Amaq Lokaq Walin Gumi, one of the customary officials within the Karang Bajo customary institutional structure. Within the Bayan customary system, Walin Gumi plays an important role in traditional ceremonies and community deliberations. The official is responsible for opening customary events and rituals, as well as opening and announcing decisions reached during customary deliberations known as gundem. The position of Walin Gumi is also associated with matters concerning gumi, or the earthly domain, within the customary life of the Bayan community. The residence, also referred to as Gubug Lokaq Walin Gumi, has been documented as one of the historical sites preserved by the Karang Bajo community and associated with traditional ceremonial activities. Architecturally, the house retains characteristics of traditional Bayan buildings through the use of natural materials such as thatch and bamboo.
